3 months later….

Hugo buried Rose himself in a field of flowers under a Weeping Willow tree, He had carved their names into the tree. He was planning to be buried there himself when the time came.

Now was the time for revenge…

They were on the lookout for Resistance members. His men had stayed him for lack of homes or family. They had all agreed to join the Resistance movement in the heart of the Reich.

Hugo spoke no Yiddish other than the words Rose had taught him. “Ikh hab dir lib“ “I love you“,

“Ich liebe dich“ “I love you“ he answered Deutsche. This Memory brought him almost to tears.

His men picked up the slack.

They had a lead in Rhine-Ruhr. They traveled by freight train at night. “Ich bin müde von Güterzügen “ “ I'm tired of freight trains“ Isaac joked.

They arrived in Rhine-Ruhr in good time.

They had meet up with a man called Aric Frank. He was a brooding and tall, but not as tall as Hugo. He was rumored to be unusually strong, and a noble leader. He spoke of his a lost Jewish wife to the concentration camp, a pain in which they shared. Hugo liked him immediately.

The group was 40 men strong, men and some women. all had lost family members to the Riech‘s madness. Some of them were Jews like his men.

Aric welcomed the new men as two members vouched for at least 4 of them. They had known each other from their village and had grown up together, each had lost at least one member of their family to the camps. No one blamed Hugo for being an

Ex-Wehrmacht, as the his men told his story in Deutsche and Yiddish.
