[The Escape…]

The tunnel was perfect but narrow, they had gathered 30 children and 20 adults inculding the 10 diggers, Hugo, Rose and her family. Rose was nervous and was not fond of tight spaces, Hugo calmed her by joking with her in the dim lite passage “When you wipe all that dirt off your face you‘ll be beautiful again” he said in Deutsche “you'll never walk alone“.

75 feet later they were in the moonlight the tunnel had done its job. They were only a few feet away from the barbed wire fence. They ran. The children were huddled together adults around them they were led one by one. Including Roses younger sister, Roses mother led her by the hand. All into the woods.

Hugo and Rose were behind the children making sure they didn't fall behind.

A spot light turned on around them, The children and last of the adults disappeared into the woods.

Into the field right before the woods. Hugo hears a shot, Rose falls.

Hugo cries out, she is silent in his arms.

He begins to sob uncontrollably.

Two of his men grab him but he pushes them away “Sie werden dafür sterben!“ “They will die for this!“

Hugo picks her body and runs into the wood with his men.
